Admission Notice

MPhil/PhD in Management (Date of Application Announcement: 09/12/2082)

Applications are invited from eligible candidates for admission into the MPhil and PhD programme for 2026 Spring session offered by the Faculty of Management Studies, Pokhara University, Nepal. The admission to the programmes is guided by the "Pokhara University Regulation for Doctoral Programme" and other relevant rules and orders of the University. The programmes seek candidates with a strong academic background, who are highly motivated and have the curiosity and desire for intellectual excellence required to succeed in research careers.

About the Programme: The programme comprises 24 credits of extensive course-work structured in two semesters. After successfully completing the course work, the scholars can opt to either pursue MPhil degree or directly register for PhD programme. The areas of specialization offered in the PhD programme are General Management, Human Resource Management, Marketing, Finance, Accountancy, and Economics and Development.

Eligibility: A master's degree in management or economics from a recognized university along with the following specific qualifications.

(a) The applicant must have experience of research, teaching in higher education or worked at least as a professional in related job.

i. Two years working experience for those who have passed Master Level with 3.00/4.00 CGPA or high Second Division (55%);

ii. One year working experience for those who have passed Master Level with 3.30/4.00 CGPA or First Division;

There will be no requirement of working experience for those who have passed Master Level with 3.75/4.00 CGPA or Distinction Division.

(b) A student must secure a minimum CGPA of 3.3 in the course-work and must have successfully defended PhD proposal for registration to PhD.

Admission Process: Admission to the MPhil/PhD program will be on merit basis based on total score (200) obtained from:

i. Entrance test (100): Entrance test will be based on MCQ comprising of modules - Quantitative ability (20), Logical reasoning (20), English Proficiency (20), Conceptual knowledge of Management and Economics (20), and Research aptitude (20)

ii. Interview (30)

Statement of purpose (5) and Research synopsis (10)

iv. Academic achievement (40)

V. Research publication (10) and work experience (5)

Successful candidates will get provisional admission to the PhD programme initially and shall be registered as Doctoral candidate only on successful completion of course work and PhD proposal requirements.

Personal Interview: 25/01/2083 (8:00 AM onwards), Venue: IAC, School of Business

iii. Statement of Purpose (SOP) of not more than one page focusing on motivation for PhD study and career objective, Research synopsis within 2,000 to 3,000 words (in prescribed format).

iv. Curriculum Vitae (CV), Letters of recommendation from two referees, No objection letter from current employer in case of employed candidates.
